First Cleanup!
This month, I did the first clean up at mile 602 with my kiddos. The cleanup was short and it was raining outside, but it was a good time. Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful sent us T-shirts, gloves, and trash bags.
We found cans, plastic bottles, straws, paper, glass bottles, and other materials littered in the area. We focused on a specific section of the shoreline near a walkway. Altogether, we gathered about 1/4 bag of trash.
My daughter had a lot of questions, so it was a good learning opportunity. She asked why people left trash at the park and I had to think of how to respond in a way that made sense to her.
My son wanted to jump in the water to get trash he saw floating! He’s a big water fan and he tries to be helpful. I had some great helpers and look forward to future cleanups!
